Learn To Row

Get Starting With Rowing

  • RCC offers several opportunities throughout the year for students rising into 8th through 12th grades and to learn the sport of rowing
  • RCC’s summer programs offer the best opportunity to learn to row
  • RCC also offers opportunities during our winter workouts between the Fall and Spring rowing seasons to develop rowing technique off the water; please contact the Head Coach for details and availability
  • During summer learn-to-row, rowers arrive at our boathouse early in the morning to avoid the summer heat and each daily session lasts approximately 2 hours
  • Learn-to-row sessions provide young athletes with a solid foundation in the fundamentals of the sport ranging from equipment preparation to rowing technique to teamwork on and off the water

  • Learn-to-row is open to beginners of all experience and fitness levels
  • New rowers are carefully supervised by coaching staff and experienced team members to make sure their experience is safe, rewarding, and fun
  • RCC’s expectation is that new rowers will try hard, pay attention, and respect other rowers and coaching staff
  • Rowers who meet these expectations will be invited to join the club and could be competing in the very next rowing season
  • RCC also runs Intermediate, advanced  and sculling sessions for experienced rowers in conjunction with our summer learn-to-row programs.
