RCC, Parents, Rowers, Families,


After careful consideration, and deliberation among the coaches and board of directors, we have decided to continue with practices as normal.


BUT. . .please read this email in its’ entirety for some clarification, caveats and a review of protocol.


In light of the many cancellations and disruptions our communities are experiencing, it is our opinion, that rowing is one of the safest sporting endeavors available.

We are outside
We are not an excessively large group (about 60)
Rowers are not constantly in close proximity from a transmission standpoint
Overall fitness and healthy lifestyle promotes healthy immune systems
Our hope is that crew provides a reasonable, welcome opportunity in the wake of the other numerous disruptions.

RCC finished up its fall season in Williamsburg, Va. at the Head of the Chick hosted by WBC. We put 13 boats on the water in 12 races and finished with 9 Firsts (W1x, M1x, W2x, M2x, WLt4+, MLt4+, WN4+, WV4+ & WN8+), 2 Seconds & 2 Thirds. Another Great showing from the RCC rowers.
Thanks to all the parents and friends who came out in the cold to cheer us on and especially to those who helped with the tent, setup, cooking and breakdown.
Now it is on to our winter erg workout sessions at RowHouse Midlothian.

On Saturday, Oct. 26 RCC competed in the Richmond Chase.
We put 14 boats on the water with our M1Xs and W1x having no competition but posting good times.
Of the remaining 11 boats RCC had 4 Firsts (M2x, WY4+. mY4+ & WN4+), 3 Seconds (W2x, WY8+ & WN4+) & 1 Third (MY4+). The doubles and novice boats weere rowing against college crews. All boats rowed well.

RCC competed at the Occoquan Challenge head race on Oct 6th in Northern Va..
We entered 13 boats in races and finished with 2 Firsts (WN4+ & MJr.Upper 4+), 2 Seconds (MJr.2X & MJr.Lower4+) & 4 Thirds (WJr.1X, WJr.Lower4+, MN8+ &WN8+).
With over half of our team being new rowers this was a very good showing for RCC against some strong competition.
