Robious Landing Boathouse & Dock


3800 James River Rd. Midlothian, VA 23113  (Robious Landing Park for GPS)

 

The Robious Landing (Holswade Boathouse) is located just off Robious Road near Route 288 at 3800 James River Road within Robious Landing Park just behind James River High School and Bettie Weaver Elementary School.

Through a cooperative, public/private effort between the County of Chesterfield and the Virginia Boat Club (VBC), VBC manages the Robious Landing Boathouse for the benefit of the rowing community. RCC utilizes the boathouse for the storage of boats and for conducting fall & spring practices as well as summer programs.

Robious Landing Park, is in northern Chesterfield County on the south bank of the James River. The 50-acre park adjacent to James River High School opened in 1997. The site includes a parking lot, picnic shelters, a playground, sand volleyball, horse shoe pits, fishing, nearly 3 miles of nature trails and access to the river. Skiing, wakeboarding, swimming, and rowing regattas are some of the highlights on the water at Robious Landing. There is a concrete and wood hand launch on site for canoes, kayaks and paddle boards. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, including white tail deer, fox and a large variety of birds (including hawks, owls, herons and bald eagles).

Directions for Richmonders to the Boathouse (South of the James River)

 

  • Take Huguenot Road from the north or Courthouse Road from the south all the way to Robious Road.
  • Turn west on Robious Rd. and follow signs for James River High School.
  • At stoplight, turn right onto James River Road.
  • Go past Bettie Weaver Elementary and James River High School on the left and continue straight...follow the road to the parking lot into Robious Landing Park.
  • Boathouse will be at the end on the right.

 

Directions for Richmonders to the Boathouse (North of the James River)

 

  • From Broad Street (Route 250), Interstate 64 or Patterson Ave. (Route 6)
  • Take Route 288 South towards Midlothian/Chesterfield.
  • Take first exit once you have crossed bridge (Robious Road/ Huguenot Trail).
  • Take a left at the stoplight.
  • Continue on Huguenot Trail/Robious Road past three stoplights.
  • At fourth stoplight, turn left onto James River Road.
  • Go past Bettie Weaver Elementary and James River High School on the left and continue straight on road into Robious Landing Park.
  • Boathouse will be at the end on the right.
